Why use clary sage essential oil?

Clary sage essential oil is uterotonic, meaning it promotes contractions of the uterus. It is therefore strictly prohibited during pregnancy because it can cause premature delivery. However, under medical supervision it can be used at the very end of pregnancy, after the term, to encourage contractions or upon arrival at the hospital to help during labor. Please note, this use must always be supervised by a doctor or midwife. Do not confuse clary sage (Salvia sclarea) essential oil with that of common sage (Salvia officinalis). The latter, rich in ketones like thujone, is highly neurotoxic and abortifacient. It is therefore reserved for the pharmaceutical monopoly and sold exclusively in pharmacies. Sales on the internet or in organic stores, for example, are strictly prohibited.
